Our client has been manufacturing and importing disposable catering and janitorial products to wholesalers for almost 30 years, and remains a family-run business.

From plates and cutlery to containers, service packs, disposable gloves and chafing fuel, they have built a solid reputation for supplying a diverse range of quality catering, janitorial & bar products to wholesale customers at the most competitive prices possible and at a quality that’s held in high regard within the industry.

From their head office and warehouse in East London, they supply clients throughout the UK ranging from small wholesalers to international blue chip companies – some of whom have been trading with them for more than 25 years. Their business has been built on recommendation and a reputation for meeting the individual needs of an extensive client base, focusing on cost-effectiveness combined with quality.

Scope of Role

To maximise conversion of new customer enquiries and drive growth within existing and past customers working alongside the sales team. Develop a detailed knowledge base of customer needs through regular contact in order to deliver timely and relevant product solutions whilst ensuring maximum customer satisfaction at all times.

Key Accountabilities

  • Helping and achieving and exceed company sales targets
  • Handle incoming customer enquires
  • Capture and log all relevant customer information
  • Organise all relevant information to be sent to new customer
  • Brief Territory Managers on a regular basis to communicate any customer needs following customer interaction
  • Follow up with new customer enquiries after initial contact to gain feedback and convert to live customer
  • Follow up on inactive accounts to understand buying status
  • Highlight and act upon opportunities to cross-sell to all existing customers and retain existing business
  • Continually build, develop, share and maintain in depth knowledge of customers in order to provide a tailored service to customers
  • Actively seek and record information on customers including feedback comments on quality of service in order to identify themes and trends and suggest ideas for improvement
  • Undertake regular data cleansing to ensure information held by the company is accurate and up to date
  • Provide a consistently high standard of service
  • Maintaining Product Specification Sheets
  • Liaising with Freight companies to check on deliveries for clients when asked by the customer.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to sell to customers with a focus on being able to negotiate and overcome objections in an appropriate and professional manner
  • Strong personality, superb communication skills with a clear, articulate telephone manner and excellent listening skills
  • Ability to build rapport and a positive and long lasting impression with customers
  • Professional appearance with a positive, hardworking, willing to learn attitude and able to take direction
  • Able to work as part of a team and under pressure
  • Basic understanding of MS Office (In particular Microsoft Excel)
  • Provide assistance to other departments where required
  • Able to develop and review process where needed
