Summary
As a broker, you will organise gas and electricity contracts for UK companies (any non-residential sites) from our client’s offices near Watford. It is a fast-moving role, with real team buzz and enjoyment. Every day is different and the successful applicant needs to be both good at sales and good at administering some aspects of their portfolio. A personal assistant is provided as the need arises.
What does a typical day look like?
What exactly does the job entail?
You will talk to your clients by phone / email, educating them and enlightening them so that they trust your knowledge
Identify clients who are in a position to renew their contracts or log the data of those not ready yet.
Preparing analyses for the client, comparing various suppliers’ rates and terms.
Planning and negotiating the deal with a client. Full training given.
Terminating clients’ current contracts with suppliers.
Follow up and relationship building with clients.
Referral gathering for pipeline development.
Desired skills
Strong, professional telephone manner, clear voice, good diction and intelligent conversational skills.
Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential.
Desire to build your own portfolio within the business with patience and a vision of your own future.
Willingness to work closely within the team
Desire to learn – this is involved work with a good deal to learn.
An extensive lead generating programme that will help you a lot. Additionally, bringing contacts with you that you can talk to about their energy would obviously be very useful to you, but not essential.
What training will be provided?
Lots of training and support depending on whether you know the industry or not.
Industry training – first 2 days.
Shadowing existing brokers – 3 days.
Full in-house CRM system training – 1 day.
Sales Training, interaction training – 2 days + then constantly, even for experienced brokers
Then the real training begins of building skills over the next 2-3 weeks.
On-job training is continuous.
They aim for a fast start to get quick, early progress and success.
6 Month probation.
What office systems will be used?
Word, Outlook and Excel, internal CRM / ERP system.
